Mission
The mission of the Agriculture and Life Sciences in the Economy Unit is to assess developments in the fields of Agriculture, Food and Health and to provide customer-driven support to the European Union’s policy-making process in the respective policy areas.
Objectives
- Analyse the impact of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) reform and World Trade Organisation (WTO) developments, on agro-food commodity market and prices
- Study the impact of the CAP reform on structural changes of farming systems and their viability, particularly in new member states and candidate countries
- Support the development of the Rural Development policy
- Study the impact of new technologies and emerging systems on agriculture and the food chain
- Assess the impact of new biotechnologies on major European policies.
