The IPTS Welcome and Housing Help Service
Welcome Service
The Welcome Service aims to help integrate IPTS staff into the legal and social aspects of everyday life in Seville and covers the following two areas:
- Social Assistance. A Social Assistant is working at the IPTS premises on a part-time basis. All incoming staff new to Seville will be put in contact with her before their arrival, so that they can request initial support for their first means of accommodation.
Should a staff member or his/her spouse need to consult her about a social issue (for example: the health system, housing, schooling) he/she can ask for an appointment.
- Legal assistance. This service is designed to give general legal advice on problems related to Spanish law and regulations (i.e. terms and conditions of house rentals, income tax, family law, social security etc.)
Consultation appointments are offered on the first working day after the 1st and the 16th of every month. Please note that, generally, individual consultations should be no more than 20 minutes and should take place within the twice monthly sessions on the IPTS premises.
Both areas work together in close cooperation.
Housing Help Service
The Housing Help Service is aimed at newcomers to IPTS who do not speak sufficient Spanish and who have not lived for longer than one year in Seville. If they require help finding an apartment on arrival to Seville, they can request to be put in contact with this new service.
After assessment the assistant will do research for apartments/houses according to the requirements of the person. She will accompany and help as interpreter during the visits to the apartments until the contract has been signed. The service for any staff member is limited to a maximum duration of 10 hours, including the possible support for applying for electricity, water and telephone connection.
