Registration open for 3rd European Conference on Corporate R&D – CONCORD 2011

29 Jul 2011.

You can already register to participate in the 3rd European Conference on Corporate R&D, CONCORD 2011 organised by the European Commission's Directorates-General Joint Research Centre (JRC) and Research and Innovation. The conference will be held on 6th October 2011 in Seville (Spain) at the JRC's Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS). This year the theme of the conference is "The dynamics of Europe's industrial structure and the growth of innovative firms".

For registration go to: the Concord website.

CONCORD 2011 will be organised as a one day event, and will consist of a forum for academic discourse. Policy implications of the conference's scientific findings and the resulting key policy messages will be summarised by the appointed Scientific Committee and presented to relevant policymakers from the European Commission, Member States and industrial representatives during a dedicated workshop which will be held at a later stage in Brussels.

By putting research and innovation at the centre of the EU's Europe 2020 strategy for jobs and growth, the need for urgent action has been recognised. In line with the recently launched key initiatives of "Innovation Union" and an "Industrial Policy for the Globalised Era", the CONCORD conferences address the economics of corporate R&D and innovation, and their impact on firms' productivity, efficiency, competitiveness, and employment. In this regard, CONCORD 2011 will focus on the dynamics of Europe's industrial structure and the growth of innovative firms.

CONCORD 2011 builds on the success of previous conferences on corporate R&D organised by the European Commission, with emphasis on "Knowledge for growth: Role and dynamics of corporate R&D" (2007) and "R&D as an engine for growth, a challenge for European policy" (2010).
