Abstract
The study estimates the amounts of the main types of materials produced and consumed in Europe today and it quantifies the related environmental impacts. It makes projections of material production and consumption up to 2030. - establishes an inventory of clean material technologies and estimates their potential to reduce the environmental impacts - estimates the environmental impacts caused by material production and consumption up to 2030 for three scenarios (no technological progress; full implementation of BAT; further use of emerging clean technologies) Based on such analyses the study draws conclusions concerning the development of clean technology roadmaps and of measures to stimulate the diffusion of clean technologies.
